AI Assistants

The same question asked on different AI assistants can get different answers, with different brands named and different sources cited. Spotlit keeps the results for each engine separate so you can see where you are named and where you are left out.

Which Assistants We Track

Spotlit tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Claude (on the Custom plan). The free scan reads ChatGPT; on Starter, Growth, and Enterprise you choose 3 of the 4 tracked assistants. Results stay separate by assistant, so you can see where you're strong and where you're missing.

How Many Each Plan Tracks

AI assistants tracked, by plan: 1 on Free, 3 on Starter, Growth, and Enterprise, and 5 on Custom. A paid plan that tracks fewer than all 5 starts on ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. Custom tracks all 5, including Claude. See Plans & Limits for everything else each plan includes.

Why Results Are Kept Separate

Answers vary by assistant, location and time. Example Brand might be named in most of the answers on one assistant and rarely on another. If the assistants were averaged together, that difference would disappear. Kept apart, it shows you which assistant to work on first. The Platforms tab of Answer Engine Insights compares your assistants side by side.

How We Read Each Assistant

Each prompt is asked of each of your assistants, and the full answer is saved with its citations. Some assistants are read in a browser and some through their APIs. The route for each assistant, and what happens when a read fails, is on How We Collect Data.
